In a week we'll be resting at home or hanging out with our friends because we'll be ON HOLIDAY!!
When we think about Christmas we usually bear in mind: presents, parties... and holidays! of course!
Now it's time to think and learn some facts related to Christmas in other countries and cultures.
In Spain we have "The Three Wise Men" , who give us some presents each 5th January night; and we eat "twelve grapes" each New Year's Eve in order to be lucky during the following year which is about to start.
Here you have some pictures:
What are their names? In which countries do these characters arrive each year to give some presents away to the children?
GOOD LUCK and HAVE A REALLY NICE TIME!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Hello Encarni, how are you? :) I′m going to talk a bit about the differences between our Christmas celebration and the american celebration. In USA they have " Santa Claus" instead of The Three Wise Men. He carry presents to every children, like the three wise men do with children here, but he does it the 25th. of December, and here it′s the 5th. of January. They don′t eat grapes like we do here, in Spain, In New York for example they look at a big crystal ball, it drops of a emblematic building, it marks the beginning of the fireworks, the confetti, sets of lights and the happiness is everywhere.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and happy new year! :D
Well done, Sandra!! How do you know all these things? I'm surprised! Have you ever been to the USA? I was in Washington D.C. and Baltimore ten years ago... I loved those cities and the people!
ReplyDeleteContinue working!! Remember what I've told you today... ;-)
Hello Encarni, such are your Christmas holidays? Will bring you many things Santa Claus and the wise men? In my house, Santa Claus, many years you forget to go through the chimney, but I am used to... :(
ReplyDeleteIn Spain, Christmas is known mainly because everyone is generous and shares, and moments that everyone would like to spend with the family, eating dinner and watching old photos.
In general, I think the holidays are great times to remember and take stock of the good and bad of the past year to the next is better!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year children!
Esther Sevilla
Hi, Esther! Well, I hope so... but presents are not so important... I prefer other things such as: going out with my friends and family; hanging out with my children, husband and dogs; etc. But if someone wants to give something to me... NO PROBLEM!! I'll get it!! ;-) And you?
ReplyDeleteI agree with you: these holidays are perfect to think about our lives, relax and try to improve ourselves (even more). Thanks for your comment! XXX
I haven't been there yet , but I would like to go overther someday. I think that it's really interesting, so I looked for some information , and I put it in the blog. It's all! Sorry if my english isn't good, I'm not very good with it!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry!! The most important thing here is to try!! How are you doing these holidays?
