Before reading this post I invite you to have a look at this video.
“Violence against women and girls takes many forms and is widespread throughout the globe. […] On this International Day, I urge governments and partners around the world to harness the energy, ideas and leadership of young people to help us to end this pandemic of violence. Only then will we have a more just, peaceful and equitable world.”Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon
Message for the International Day for the
Elimination of VIolence against Women
25 November 2011
By resolution 54/134 of 17 December 1999, the United Nations General Assembly designated 25 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and invited governments, international organizations and NGOs to organize activities designed to raise public awareness of the problem of that day. Women's activists have marked 25 November as a day against violence since 1981. This date came from the brutal assassination in 1960, of the three Mirabal sisters, political activists in the Dominican Republic, on orders of Dominican ruler Rafael Trujillo (1930-1961).
On 20 December 1993 the General Assembly, by resolution 48/104 adopted the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Now, it's time to think about it!
- Do you think women and men have equal opportunities?
- Does it really exist equality all around the world?
- .... domestic violence... ????
After watching and listening it, tell me: which is your favourite statement? For me:
There is a difference between love and control: LOVE DOESN'T HURT!!
Use Education to earn a living! ;-)
It's a great video. We can learn a lot through it! It should be played in every single class at school. Congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteHello!! Who are you? I need your name and also your answers to the suggested questions for the stars. Thanks for your comment!
ReplyDeleteHi Encarni! here I am at last. I'm afraid of making mistakes, but I'll try to take part on your blog. So here we go...
ReplyDeleteI think women and men haven't got equal opportunities. Today a woman earned less money than a man doing the same work for example, and all of us know it. I think we don't need to be like men because then the world would be bored, but at least, our rights must be the same.
It's very hard to see the news every day, and to hear about a woman who have died because her (ex)husband or(ex)boyfriend have decided to kill her. What can we do to stop it? Perhaps the solution begin with the education.
I encourage whoever suffer of violence at home, to ask for help.
Bye, You know who I am ;)
Education is the key!! We must change the way we educate our children since the day they are born. We are all born equal and we must be brought up equally too. Luckily you and I are a new generation of mothers and I believe in us. Encarni, I love this topic!!
ReplyDeleteShamefully, we don´t have equal rights, and we, as women, sometimes do not contribute to change this situation. It is a matter of education and of dignity, which we must defend. I think it depends mostly upon us, because we are worth it and we can show the rest of the world how much we can do.
ReplyDeleteI love this topic and your blog, Encarni. Tnanks for all your efforts!!!
